Of course, TWIC cards are not required for law students, unless you are maintaining your Master's license with the Coast Guard.
As
part of maintaining my Merchant Mariner Credential, I am required to hold a
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card issued by the
Transportation Security Administration (TSA). In the past, this has
necessitated two 225--mile round trips (each way) to the Houston Turning Basin
to complete the process; one to initiate the TWIC enrollment, and the second to
pick up the card, as they were not mailed. This time around, I was able to make
an appointment in North Richland Hills at the new "TWIC Enrollment
Center." My appointment was for Thursday, August 4, at 1510. I showed up
at 1445 due to light traffic, and was done by 1500. To cap it off, they will
mail the new TWIC card to my residence! This was a fantastic experience - Bravo
Zulu TSA!
